Week 1

Hearers vs Doers Part 4

Big Idea

"The war in the heart often spills out to cause wars in the church." When we are constantly at war internally and not continuing to submit to God, conflict is inevitable. In a society of quick fixes, fast food, and convenience at our fingertips, often we can want the same to happen in our own life.

Discussion Questions

  • How do we guard our hearts against selfish living?
  • What does continuing to submit ourselves to God look like in a christians life?
  • How important is it for Christians to get along?

Prayer Focus

“Our world is full of conflict. God help us to be light in the world around us and a testimony of your love toward one another. Forgive us for not fully submitting to your headship and keeping ourselves surrendered to you. Protect our hearts from selfish living and allowing you to deal with our hearts."

Next Steps

God wants to be a part of our everyday life. Not just when we need him. Scripture calls us to “pray without ceasing” (I Thess 5:16).  We practically can do this as we go about our daily lives, continually asking for God to give us right perspective in all things.

Leader Tip

Encourage your group to recognize any selfishness in their own lives, allowing God to heal their heart. Let us deal with one another in a christian way, loving one another as Christ has loved us.
